End-grain chopping board (53 x 37 x 5cm)
huge "Butchers' Block" style board designed to stay put and be wiped clean.
The OX chopping board is literally a beast, weighing an almighty 5.82kg. This butchers’ block-style board is designed to be left in place on the worktop and wiped down in-situ, rather than taken to the sink. It’s size allows preparation of large items like turkey or butchery of small animals. Also, it acts more as a workspace – so you can leave your ingredients in piles on the board rather than in dishes.
Dispatched separately. Allow 2 weeks for delivery.
TOG chopping boards are made by hand in Warwickshire, a handful at a time, by a man called Mike. Sometimes we have a few in stock and at other times they are made to order.
Our boards are constructed from sustainably sourced American Black Walnut and British Cherry. Wood is naturally antimicrobial and, we believe, the most hygienic material for a chopping board.
Our Ant, Hare and Ox chopping boards use end-grain construction, meaning the fibres of the wood are vertical. As you cut onto the board, the knife actually pushes down between fibres rather than cutting them and they close up again afterwards. It is easier on the knife and the board.
Our boards have removable feet for grip and to ensure they don’t sit in water. The chamfer makes them easier to pick up. We’ve given each model its own icon and laser etched it on the front, along with the board’s production number. The boards are finished with mineral oil, then with TOG board balm.
"The Ox" is huge! Big enough to cut everything on it, solid, well made and I really love the look, everyone should own one.Eduardo CastroKnife expert @jakkonoise
Like our knives, our chopping boards will give you a lifetime of use with a little TLC. Washing up liquid will remove the natural oils in the wood. Use our board balm to help replace these oils and maximise the board’s water resistance, durability and beauty! After care
