Crowdcube 2019 Investor Update 23 Nov 2022


Just a quick update for you, thanks again for supporting us back in 2019.


It’s been an unusually tough year, with e-Commerce being down 20% on average in the UK. Since launching our Crowdcube campaign, online consumer spending has dropped more than we could have imagined. We have had to pivot and already have two projects underway already to combat the effects of the recession and cost of living crisis. In the New Year, we will update you in more detail regarding both our performance and plans.

The first project is our Twin Black Friday Campaign. We currently have 20% off our core range of kitchen knives. If you have an investor discount, unfortunately this does not apply to sale items. The twin campaign allows us to reach many new customers whilst at the same time supporting FareShare as we have for the last three years.


The second project is a huge increase in our promotion of Higonokami folding pocket knives. These are at a price point that more people can reach than our kitchen knives and we are now selling 4X more. This is also working well.


Good news is that we’ve got a prototype kitchen axe! In fact, we have two. This new product is being completely hand made by the awesome Alex Pole in Somerset. With outdoor cooking in mind, it’s designed for meat preparation and making fires. Its design takes the best of European and Japanese axe history and combines it. As an investor, we’d like to give you first access to pre-order one of the first batch of these beauties which won’t be shipped until Feb or March (that’s the bad news). We’ll be in touch again with a link when these are available to pre-order.


We’ve just launched our two best-selling chopping boards the Hare and Ox in sustainably sourced Beech. We have a few more product drops planned before Christmas. Sign up to our mailing list here to be the first to hear.
